This position is responsible for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of fire suppression systems that are installed on an array of off-road mobile equipment such as Dozers, Loaders, Cranes, Haul Trucks, Compactors, Excavators, etc. Responsibilities include installing, inspecting, testing, and performing system repairs in accordance with manufacturers’ manuals, identifying & correcting problems or system deficiencies, and preparing accurate and timely inspection reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Install or upgrade suppression systems on large, off-highway, mobile equipment
* Test and repair systems already in place
* Perform inspections to ensure suppression systems are installed properly
* Complete detailed inspection reports, documenting any issues
* Report results of work completed in an accurate and timely manner
* Inspect and maintain the truck and all related equipment, putting in repair requests as necessary to maintain safe operation.
* Operate specialized equipment, including man-lifts, in a way that facilitates the performance of the work while observing all safety regulations and manufacturer’s safety instructions for that equipment.
* Respond to emergency service calls
* Work primarily outdoors in all types of environmental and weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, grease, and dirt as may be expected in mine sites, construction sites, railroad yards, landfills, recycling facilities, etc.
* Work in very tight spaces and at heights.
* Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
* Experience in commercial fire suppression systems or a relatable mechanical trade.
* Troubleshooting skills.
* This is entry level role requiring at least a year experience in a mechanically inclined role or operating heavy equipment.
* Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
* Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend hours. Daily work hours will vary with early morning and late evening hours that will fluctuate. Must be willing to work overtime hours, especially when traveling and on out-of-town projects.
* Will regularly require out-of-town assignments involving overnight stays in hotels.
* Requires the ability to display knowledge of basic practices of reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy.
* Requires the ability to use or repair small/medium equipment, such as power tools, ladders, medium equipment and machinery
* Requires the ability and skill to use (company provided) hand tools as needed for performing work on large mobile equipment

The Opportunity
As a Fire Suppression Service Technician at Encore, you will play a direct role in keeping people and property safe. You will inspect, test, service, and maintain fire suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers, making sure they are ready to perform when needed.
This is a field-based role with hands-on work and a lot of day-to-day variety. One day you might be recharging kitchen systems in a busy restaurant; the next you could be servicing equipment in an industrial facility. Key Responsibilities
You are at your best in the spaces most people forget about, from greasy kitchens to busy industrial shops. You notice expired tags, missing pins, and systems that do not sound quite right, then leave the equipment safer than you found it. In this role, you will:
* Inspect, test, and recharge kitchen and industrial fire suppression systems and portable fire extinguishers.
* Assemble, install, maintain, and repair fire suppression systems in commercial and industrial settings.
* Make sure all work meets applicable NFPA and local code requirements.
* Accurately document work performed and communicate findings, recommendations, and next steps with customers and internal teams.
* Represent Encore professionally on every job site and provide a clear, customer focused experience.
* Work independently in the field and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
What You Bring To The Table
* You have one to three years of experience in fire suppression system service.
* High school diploma or GED required, with technical or industry related experience preferred
* Mechanically inclined, with interest in hands on technical work in the life safety or construction space
* Comfort using hand tools and other basic equipment, with the ability to learn more as you go
* Ability to lift 50+ pounds and work on ladders or in tight or confined spaces as part of daily work
* Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within your assigned territory
* Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
* Strong communication and documentation skills for use with customers and internal teams

The City of Albany is now hiring Firefighter/EMT-Paramedics to join a dynamic team committed to emergency response and community safety.
Albany Fire Department is accepting applications for multiple vacant positions and to establish an eligibility list for future openings.
These positions are regular, full-time and are represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF).
Salary Range: $77,872.06 to $98,442.61 annually
This position is scheduled for a 7% salary increase effective July 1, 2026.
We value prior experience. Starting salary placement within the posted range will be determined based on consecutive years of paid firefighter experience, in accordance with applicable equal pay laws.

Salary Incentives & Benefits
Salary Incentives: The following shall be applied to base salary upon hire as applicable and assigned.
* Paramedic License Incentive: $410.18 semi-monthly; $9,844.26 annually
* 3% Bilingual Incentive (Spanish or American Sign Language)

* 6% at 15 years of service

Schedule:
* 1:3, 2:3 schedule (24 hrs on followed by 72 hours off; then 48 hrs on followed by 72 hrs off)
Benefits include:
* Full medical, vision and dental coverage for employee and all eligible dependents with City paying approximately 95% of premium. Currently, the employee-paid premium is $136.50 for employee-only and family coverage.

The Albany Fire Department is a multi-role provider of all-hazard emergency protective services. All emergency services personnel are cross-trained to handle fire, rescue, and medical emergencies. The Fire Department is responsible for emergency and non-emergency ambulance transport at the paramedic level in the City of Albany and portions of Linn and Benton Counties. Paramedic engine companies also operate from each of the fire stations.
The Albany Fire Department provides fire suppression services and the following rescue services: motor vehicle collision, swift water, confined space, trench, and industrial. All emergency services personnel are also trained to HazMat Operations level to deal with hazardous material emergencies. Some are trained to the Technician level to participate on the State's Hazardous Material Response Team, which covers Linn, Benton, Lincoln, and portions of Marion and Polk Counties.
Positions may be funded by a five-year serial levy, grant, or an intragovernmental agreement with Millersburg. The goal is to continue funding for all positions; however, funding beyond the levy and/or grant period is uncertain at this time. It is possible the City of Albany could choose not to fund a position at the end of the current funded period. Any layoff of employees is by seniority as specified in the current collective bargaining agreement.

* Responds to fire, medical, and other emergencies; operates within the Incident Command System; and provides emergency medical care and transportation.
* Performs firefighting and other emergency activities, including driving emergency apparatus, extricating trapped victims, removing persons from dangerous premises, fire suppression, operating pumps and related equipment, laying hose, salvage and overhaul operations, and other fireground activities.
* EMT Paramedic: Performs emergency aid activities in accordance with Department EMT/Paramedic standing orders, including driving ambulances, administering advanced life support treatment, and transporting patients.
* Exercises independent judgment in determining appropriate actions to take during emergency response activities and in performing program area activities or duties as assigned.
* Performs job duties in compliance with Department operating procedures and city, county, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
* Establishes, promotes, and maintains positive working relationships while promoting the Fire Department's mission, vision, and value statements.
* Participates in and may conduct drills and training for development and maintenance of firefighting, EMS, and other related skills.
* Supports Life Safety Division programs through public education and assisting with fire cause determination.
* Maintains apparatus, equipment, and facilities to ensure safe, efficient, and effective operations. Performs housekeeping and minor repairs to Department equipment, apparatus, facilities, and grounds.
* Assists in developing plans for special emergency and non-emergency operations.
* Operates radio and other communication equipment.
* Participates on internal and external job-related committees and attends meetings as a representative of the Albany Fire Department.
* Communicates effectively and coherently in all activities.
* Expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with Department privacy policies, procedures, and practices as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider.
* May access Protected Health Information (PHI) and other patient information only to the extent that it is necessary to complete job duties.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of: principles, practices, and procedures of firefighting and EMS; geography of the city and major fire hazards within the city and protected areas; rules and regulations of the Fire Department; operation and maintenance of the various types of apparatus and equipment used by the Fire Department; knowledge and use of computers and related software and equipment.
Skill in: operation of tools and equipment used.
Ability to: learn the operation of fire suppression and other emergency equipment; perform strenuous physical tasks under adverse environmental conditions; act effectively in emergency and stressful situations; and follow verbal and written instructions.
Special Requirements
* Must be 19 years or older at the time of employment.
* Candidates must either currently hold a State of Oregon EMT license or obtain licensure by the time of job placement.
* Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Oregon driver's license prior to assuming duties; no record of suspension or revocation in any state; and three years of licensed driving experience.
* Possession of: Hazardous Materials Awareness and NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Firefighter I certification at time of application; or equivalent.
* Possession of: NFPA Driver or Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) certification; or equivalent.
* Must meet the City's physical qualifications and pass a background check, medical and psychological exams, and drug screen prior to appointment.
* Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language; preference may be given for bilingual skills.
* Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
* Use of cigarettes is prohibited, and the use of any tobacco product is prohibited while involved in City of Albany events.
* The individual shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of the individual or others in the workplace.
Successful candidates who currently hold an EMT-Basic, EMT-Advanced, or EMT-Intermediate certification or are enrolled in a paramedic program, must obtain their Oregon EMT-Paramedic certification prior to the completion of the 12-month training period. Candidates currently enrolled in a paramedic program must successfully graduate on or before September 1, 2026. Continued employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining a valid Oregon EMT-Paramedic license as well as current standing order privileges from the Fire Department Medical Director.
Out of state applicants: National Registry certification as an EMT or Paramedic and the ability to qualify for State of Oregon reciprocity, or possession of licensure from another state and the ability to qualify for State of Oregon reciprocity is acceptable. The Oregon Health Authority determines equivalencies and more information about applying for reciprocity can be found on OHA's website. Successful candidates are required to obtain EMT certification reciprocity through OHA before the end of the 12-month training period.
Work Environment
In the performance of the job duties, the employee will work in outside day or night weather conditions, congested traffic, and unsafe road conditions. Employee will work in atmospheres that are an immediate danger to life and health; will work near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and with explosives. Employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; vibration; risk of electrocution, extreme heat or cold; chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, except during certain firefighting or EMS activities when noise levels may be loud.

What You Will Be Doing

Experience & Qualifications

* Knowledge of basic electricity and the ability to read electrical schematic diagrams.
* Proven experience working as a Fire Technician is preferred.
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting NFPA standards (10, 13, 17, 17a, 25, 72, 96), and technical manuals (Ansul, Amerex, CaptiveAire, etc.)
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with customers and team members.

Key Responsibilities
Fire Suppression System Installation
* Install fire suppression systems including wet, dry, and pre-action sprinkler systems within modular data center builds
* Assemble and install pre-fabricated piping, risers, valves, and sprinkler heads

* Install hangers, supports, and bracing systems for fire protection piping
System Integration & Mechanical Coordination
