Position Summary
As a Fire Alarm Inspection Technician at Marmic Fire and Safety, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our clients' fire alarm systems. You will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire alarm systems in various commercial and residential settings. Your expertise will help ensure that all systems meet local, state, and federal regulations and perform reliably in emergency situations.
Core Responsibilities
Fire Life Safety System Assistance
* Support the performance of assigned tasks related to fire life safety system services, ensuring effective operation and compliance with safety standards.
* Assist in the installation of new fire life safety systems and observe proper wiring techniques.
Technical Support And Testing
* Conduct technical support activities, including testing fire detection systems and field devices, in accordance with national and local standards.
* Provide troubleshooting assistance and perform minor repairs as needed.
Documentation And Record-Keeping
* Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all tests and inspections performed to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
Service Call Response
* Assist in responding to emergency and routine service calls, addressing issues on-site and providing effective solutions.
Installation And Minor Repairs
* Aid in the installation of new systems and perform minor repairs as directed to ensure system functionality and safety.

Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Prior experience in alarm systems.
* Previous experience with low-voltage systems.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving equipment over 50 lbs.Comfortable working in diverse environments, such as climbing ladders, operating high-lift equipment, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
* Strong customer service skills with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
* Must successfully pass pre-employment background checks and substance abuse screenings, with continued compliance throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
* NICET Certification.
* 1-3 years of electrical experience is preferred.

What You Will Do
Install, program, configure, commission/test and service Commercial Security Products including but not limited to; Simplex, Software House, DSC, American Dynamics, Genetec, Hexagon, and many other platforms as well as other integrated building system products at customer sites.

* Proficiency with systems such as Bosch, Fire-Lite, Notifier, EST, Siemens, and Silent Knight
* Strong understanding of fire alarm codes, standards, and best practices.
* Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
* Willingness to travel within the state of SC.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with blueprint reading and system layout.
* Familiarity with voltage drop and battery load calculations.
* Ability to manage materials and coordinate with project teams.

What You'll Do
Key responsibilities:
* Install and configure a variety of systems including electronic security, fire alarms, access control, CCTV, intrusion, and network-based intercom systems
* Service and troubleshoot systems to resolve performance issues and ensure adherence to all codes and regulations
* Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance
* Educate customers on system functionality, features, and service needs
* Provide exceptional customer care by answering questions, addressing concerns, and offering helpful solutions
* Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed
* Uphold high standards of safety, workmanship, and customer care
What You'll Need
Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience as a security installation technician
* Valid driver's license with good driving record
* Proficiency with low voltage install, maintenance, and repair of CCTV, intrusion, fire, access control, and intercom systems
* Strong networking knowledge or IT background
* Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude
* Excellent communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* OSHA 10 certification a plus
Work Requirements:
* Ability to drive a company vehicle
* Some flexibility regarding schedule and travel between Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse
