SERVICE MANAGER (Fire Alarm)
ORR Protection designs customized fire protection solutions to keep people, property and operations safe and compliant. We specialize in fire alarm, detection, suppression systems, along with inspection, testing, maintenance and 24/7 remote monitoring to ensure peak performance for our customers.
We’re seeking a new Service Manager for our South Region. This manager-level role will focus on profitability and the day-to-day operations of the service and emergency business within the Tampa and Orlando area. You would report directly to the Regional or local Operations Manager, and the service staff, including support staff and technicians, would report to you. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
* All team members must embody the company mission to provide protection for people, property, and the environment in all aspects of their job.
* Responsible for ensuring all service associates embrace the safety culture and comply with all safety initiatives.
* Mentor and develop associates for long-term opportunities to support growth of the individual and the organization.
* Hire and onboard new service associates to set them up for success at ORR.
* Oversee efficient scheduling of service and follow-up work.
* Implement plans, programs, and processes designed to meet or exceed goals and maximize market potential as it relates to the service & emergency lines of business.
* Resolve customer issues/complaints.
* Coordinate responses to discharges and other life-safety emergencies at customer sites.
* Track and control costs in support of company’s gross margin objectives.
* Manage Field Service Technician’s vehicle stock.
* Complete technical and financial reviews.
* Review the S&E report for pending work orders.
* Partner with Sales to drive discrepancy quoting and follow-up revenue.
* Responsible for conforming to and ensuring associates are knowledgeable and conforming to the OPS quality system.
* Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education And/Or Experience
* High school diploma or equivalent education, required.
* 3+ years’ fire protections experience, required.
* 1-year experience manager or leading a team, preferred.
* Post-secondary education in related technical or business field, preferred.
* NICET certification, preferred.

* Ability to effectively communicate to a diverse group of individuals including company leadership, regional staff, customers, and vendors.

As a Fire Alarm Systems Service Technician, you will:
* Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements
* Create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs
* Swiftly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality. Report on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material
* Code Compliance: Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards
* Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects
* Plan work with mentor, Lead Technicians, and Supervisors to strategize tasks effectively
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
* Must be able and willing to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
* Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations
* Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
* High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred
* 5+ years’ experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
* Ability to read/understand design and construction documents
* NFPA 10 certified

Job Description
The Fire Alarm Technician tests, repairs, and inspects fire detection systems. He or she must provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
* Performs installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis
* Completes all services following manufacturer instructions, related codes/standards, and Company policies and procedures
* Schedules inspections with customers as required

Key Responsibilities
* Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fire alarm systems infrastructure
* Running low-voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work
* Installing cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct
* Conducting tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational
* Troubleshooting issues with cable networks and fire alarm panels
* Ensuring all installations and repairs comply with NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72

Qualifications
* Proven experience in field installation within security environments: Fire Alarm and/or Intrusion
* Current and valid state-required Physical Security and/or Life Safety license
* In-depth knowledge of NFPA standards, especially NFPA 70 and 72
* Experience reading blueprints and site maps
* Comfortable working at heights of 20-60 feet using lifts
* Ability to work in cramped spaces and operate BOOM or scissor lifts
* Proficiency with smartphones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office
* Possession of basic PPE and reliable transportation during the initial training period
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in the last 3 years)
* Availability for extensive travel (2-6 weeks at a time) and flexible shifts including nights and on-call work
Preferred Qualifications
* NICET Level 2 certification or State-required licenses
* Knowledge of cabling infrastructure and conduit installation
* Ability to identify independent colors and learn color codes
* Experience with multiple Intrusion and Fire system manufacturers

Title: Fire Alarm Technician
Primary Role:
Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of electrical fire alarm systems. The Systems Technician is responsible for installing and servicing the systems in the most efficient and effective manner to ensure minimum downtime and maximum performance. The technician is responsible for communicating system performance to the customer.
Responsibilities:
* Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications and schematics.
* Supervise and inspect the installation of equipment to meet customer specifications.
* Performs all tasks required to completely install, fire alarm systems to include, engineering – technical review, cable installation, device mounting, wiring devices and control panels and programming/testing equipment.
* Performs a variety of tasks involved in installation using hand and power tools.
* Tasks include continual learning of new products, upgrades, and software programs related to fire and security systems.
* Evaluate and diagnose equipment requiring service and identify and troubleshoot problems.
* Provide specific solutions and recommendations to customers on the most efficient and cost-efficient methods to return equipment to working order.
* Assists with preventive maintenance of customer equipment
* Responsible for accurate tracking on time sheets, service/installation tickets and
inventory items
* Full compliance with company's and customer's safety program
* Other duties as required or assigned by company management
Accountability:
The Fire Alarm Technician will be accountable to the Project Manager. Secondary accountability will be to the other management team members, employees and customers of the company.
Qualifications
* At least five (5) years' experience in testing, maintenance, and service of fire alarm systems. Experience with access control systems and CCTV a plus.
* Industry experience as apprentice electrician or low voltage technician as a minimum. has performed installations of fire alarm, CCTV components, and access control systems. Possesses current working knowledge of basic software applications, communication technologies, and some lock hardware applications. We should have some leadership experience needed to instruct installation assistants to perform basic tasks proficiently. Has experience in dealing with customer service.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Education Requirements
* Minimum: High school graduate. NICET certification. Must be able to read and write at Basic English proficiency. Must be able to compute basic math functions without difficulty. Can read CAD generated prints and building blueprints and riser diagrams. Has solid grasp of basic electronics/electrical theory – formal instruction is preferred. Is proficient with PC and has proven aptitude in simple engineering and construction.
