Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Teledata Technician to join our dynamic team. As a Teledata Technician, you will play a crucial role in installing, maintaining, and repairing fire and security systems. The ideal candidate will possess a fire alarm license and have expertise in programming fire alarm and security panels. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of electrical layouts, building plans, and hands-on experience with the installation of wiring.
Responsibilities
* Fire Alarm License: Must possess a valid fire alarm license.
* Installation and Maintenance: Install, maintain, or repair fire and security systems, alarm devices, or related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.
* Wiring and Panel Programming: Mount and fasten control panels, fire alarm devices, door and window contacts, sensors, or video cameras. Attach electrical and telephone wiring to connect components. Program fire alarm and security panels.
* Customer Training: Demonstrate systems for customers and explain details, such as the causes and consequences of false alarms. Provide training to customers on system usage.
* Testing and Repairs: Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications. Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning. Repair electrical circuits or wiring.
* Installation Procedures: Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, or cavity walls to reach fixture outlets. Position and terminate cables, wires, or strapping.
* Troubleshooting: Examine systems to locate problems, such as loose connections or broken insulation.
* System Checks: Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, or other security features to ensure proper functioning or diagnose malfunctions.
* Drilling and Inspections: Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, or floors. Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
* Documentation: Prepare documents, such as fire alarm inspection reports, invoices, or warranties.
* Client Consultation: Consult with clients to assess risks and determine security requirements.
* Raceways and Conduits: Mount raceways and conduits. Fasten wires to wood framing using staplers.
* Adjustments and Updates: Adjust sensitivity of units based on room structures and manufacturers' recommendations using programming keypads.
* Stay Informed: Keep informed of new products and developments in the field.
* Parts Management: Order replacement parts as needed.
Requirements

Educational Requirements:

Job Summary: The Senior Fire System Specialist is responsible for inspecting, testing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm and life safety systems to ensure code compliance, system reliability, and customer satisfaction. This role partners closely with customers, sales, and internal teams to deliver high-quality service, support system programming and integration, and mentor team members while maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
Responsibilities
* Conduct the inspecting, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems, including but not limited to, Fire Alarm, Fire Extinguisher systems.
* Ensure the entire scope of the inspection is executed appropriately.
* Engage and communicate with the customer while on-site, checking in and out, ensuring the customer is taken care of and all questions have been addressed.
* Provide and upload accurate inspection reports to CLSS within 24-hours of an inspection being completed.
* Provide and upload picture(s) to CLSS when finding a system or device that fails inspection or is in need of service.
* Complete a weekly closeout email detailing the inspections performed that week and any items that need immediate attention.
* Assist in preparing of as-built drawings and other closeout documents, as necessary.
* Provide information and support to the inside sales position when applicable.
* Complete time sheets, service work orders, expense reports, and other paperwork required for this position in an accurate and timely manner.
* Demonstrate leadership and support training of team members.
* Assist Sales team during estimating phase including potential system demonstrations when applicable.

Required Qualifications
* Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
* 5+ years of experience in fire alarm installation, testing, inspecting and service.
* An understanding of NFPA 72 and other related fire and life safety codes is beneficial.
* An advanced understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints.
* 5+ years of experience in system startup and programming, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
* 5+ years of experience in panel installation and wiring, ensuring proper setup and system reliability.

The Fire Alarm Technician tests, repairs, and inspects fire detection systems. He or she must provide exceptional service to both internal and external customers.
Responsibilities
* Performs installation, programming, repair, testing, and inspection of fire detection and signaling systems on a scheduled basis
* Completes all services following manufacturer instructions, related codes/standards, and Company policies and procedures
* Schedules inspections with customers as required

Fire Alarm Systems Service Technicians play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our Smart Buildings. You will be responsible for the service and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems. You will ensure that components are inspected, tested, operated, and maintained according to the operational requirements of the customer. In addition to your primary responsibilities, you will also act as a mentor, providing on-the-job training to less experienced technicians, fostering a culture of growth and knowledge-sharing within our team. Our Fire Alarm Service Technicians are the face of Siemens, and your expertise and regular interaction with the customer will help keep their buildings and inhabitants safe.
As a Fire Alarm Systems Service Technician, you will:
* Execute comprehensive testing and inspections for systems under maintenance agreements
* Create detailed test and inspection reports based on code requirements and customer needs
* Swiftly respond to, troubleshoot, and complete necessary repairs to maintain system functionality. Report on activities completed, deferred, or requiring further action or material
* Code Compliance: Identify code and non-conformance issues, ensuring adherence to required standards
* Quote small repair jobs and provide detailed parts and labor requirements to estimators and sales for large repair projects
* Plan work with mentor, Lead Technicians, and Supervisors to strategize tasks effectively
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
* 3+ years of experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
* Must be able and willing to differentiate types/colors of wire, use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet, carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
* Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with limited violations
* Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
* High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate degree in electronics or related field preferred
* 5+ years’ experience in the installation and/or maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems
* Ability to read/understand design and construction documents
* NFPA 10 certified

Key Responsibilities
* Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of fire alarm systems infrastructure
* Running low-voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit work
* Installing cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and innerduct
* Conducting tests to ensure all newly installed cable systems and component devices are operational
* Troubleshooting issues with cable networks and fire alarm panels
* Ensuring all installations and repairs comply with NFPA standards, including NFPA 70 and 72
* Collaborating with team members on pre-installation design and planning
* Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all work performed
* Adhering to all required project safety requirements as set forth by Wachter, our customers, or OSHA
Qualifications
* Proven experience in field installation within security environments: Fire Alarm and/or Intrusion
* Current and valid state-required Physical Security and/or Life Safety license
* In-depth knowledge of NFPA standards, especially NFPA 70 and 72
* Experience reading blueprints and site maps
* Comfortable working at heights of 20-60 feet using lifts
* Ability to work in cramped spaces and operate BOOM or scissor lifts
* Proficiency with smartphones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office
* Possession of basic PPE and reliable transportation during the initial training period
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in the last 3 years)
* Availability for extensive travel (2-6 weeks at a time) and flexible shifts including nights and on-call work
Preferred Qualifications
* NICET Level 2 certification or State-required licenses
* Knowledge of cabling infrastructure and conduit installation
* Ability to identify independent colors and learn color codes
* Experience with multiple Intrusion and Fire system manufacturers
