THE POSITION IN A NUTSHELL
Sciens Building Solutions is seeking an experienced Fire Suppression Service Technician to inspect, service, test, and maintain suppression systems, including but not limited to fire extinguisher and kitchen hoods. Customer and employee interface require a high degree of effective human relations. Communication skills, both verbal and written are important elements of the position.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (and doing well!)
* Inspect, service, test, and maintain fire suppression systems, including fire extinguishers and kitchen hoods.
* Complete basic to standard level complexity repair of fire extinguishers, systems cylinders, and DOT-specified cylinders.
* Produce detailed commissioning and inspection reports in accordance with NFPA.
* Responsible for vehicle inventory.
* Ensure facility and inventory is kept in a safe and orderly state.
* Proficient in issue resolution.
* Excellent organizational, decision-making, and communication skills.
* Knowledge of fire protection industry and products.
* Work with customer(s) to perform deficiency repairs.
* Identify opportunities to perform inspections at new customer sites.
* Identify opportunities to upgrade current equipment according to code requirements.
* Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.

What You Will Be Doing
* Perform inspection, testing, service, and repairs as required for fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and pre-engineered suppression systems, such as six-year maintenance, hydrotest, recharge, battery replacement, bulb replacement and other services and repairs as mandated by Standards and codes, manufacturers requirements, federal, state and local ordinances, and procedures, customer requirements, and expectations and requirements of company
* Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and kitchen hood suppression systems
* Record and document all inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually
* Maintain a good positive relationship with the customer and pass on information to the appropriate personnel for follow up, quotes, questions, or concerns
* Maintain vehicle in clean and orderly fashion. Keep vehicle stocked with parts, equipment, and supplies, necessary to perform the job
* Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform job
* Evaluate customer site for additional equipment and services that customer may require
* Work in compliance with the Company's safety program
* Discuss deficiencies noted with customer, explaining the problem and its resolution
* There may be situations which require work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays. For some locations, these demands will be more frequent or required than others.

Qualifications
* 3+ years of route sales and service experience in the fire life safety industry with a concentration in extinguishers, e-lights, and hood suppression systems
* Design and install restaurant fire suppression systems preferred
* Must possess the ability to calculate basic math including fractions, decimals and percentages
* Must possess the knowledge and ability to understand and operate basic computer functions, operating systems and software applications such as Windows, Word, Apple IOS, Android and Outlook. In addition, required to learn and use industry specific devices and software
* Must currently have a valid U.S. driver's license

Position Summary
The Fire Extinguisher Recharge Technician works as part of a team under the supervision of the Recharge Suppression Manager to inspect, repair, test, and refill fire extinguishers and other pressure cylinders. The technician will ensure that all work is performed in compliance with NFPA-10 standards and company policies. The role requires physical labor, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain safety protocols in a warehouse and field environment.
Core Responsibilities
* Inspect, repair, and test fire extinguishers using hand tools, hydrostatic test equipment, and monitoring devices
* Hydro-test low pressure cylinders.
* Dismantle extinguishers and examine mechanical parts, extinguishing agents, and expelling means; replaces worn or damaged parts.
* Clean extinguishers and recharge them with approved materials.
* Working conditions include restricted movement, air contamination, lifting or carrying of heavy objects.
* Maintain repairs and maintenance on fire extinguishers and systems is performed in accordance with NFPA-10 standards.
* Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures in compliance with company policy and vision.
* Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.
* Controls inventory levels by conducting physical counts; reconciling with data storage system.

* Strong communication skills with the ability to report issues, solve problems, and adhere to safety protocols.
* Capable of working independently and within a team.
* Understanding of safety standards, equipment maintenance, and the ability to use hand tools and testing devices.
* Consent to a background check upon hire.
* Knowledge of NFPA-10 standards for fire extinguisher maintenance and testing.
* Able to work onsite in our warehouse Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:00/8:00 AM - 4:00/5:00 PM
Preferred Qualifications
* Previous experience in fire safety, extinguisher maintenance, or related fields is preferred.
* Any relevant technical certifications in safety equipment maintenance or inspection are a plus.
* Experience operating a forklift in a warehouse setting.

What You Will Do
Perform service and repairs on Portable Fire Extinguishers, Kitchen Hood Systems & Suppression Gas Systems in addition to other related building system products at customer sites. Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers including Simplex and ANSUL. Fire Life Safety System Assistance
* Support the performance of assigned tasks related to fire life safety system services, ensuring effective operation and compliance with safety standards.
* Assist in the installation of new fire life safety systems and observe proper wiring techniques.
Technical Support And Testing
* Conduct technical support activities, including testing fire detection systems and field devices, in accordance with national and local standards.
* Provide troubleshooting assistance and perform minor repairs as needed.
Documentation And Record-Keeping
* Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all tests and inspections performed to ensure compliance and operational integrity.
Service Call Response
* Assist in responding to emergency and routine service calls, addressing issues on-site and providing effective solutions.
Installation And Minor Repairs
* Aid in the installation of new systems and perform minor repairs as directed to ensure system functionality and safety.

Minimum Qualifications
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Prior experience in alarm systems.
* Previous experience with low-voltage systems.
* Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving equipment over 50 lbs.Comfortable working in diverse environments, such as climbing ladders, operating high-lift equipment, and working in confined or elevated spaces.
* Strong customer service skills with excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
* Must successfully pass pre-employment background checks and substance abuse screenings, with continued compliance throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
* NICET Certification.
* 1-3 years of electrical experience is preferred.
* Basic knowledge of AC/DC circuitry and associated low voltage systems.
* Previous experience with Field Service and Computers.

Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough inspections and tests on fire suppression systems, including kitchen hood suppression systems according to the requirements outlined in NFPA 17, NFPA96, and other applicable codes and standards
* Perform routine maintenance activities on fire suppression system components, including cylinders, nozzles, release mechanisms, and control panels, in accordance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications.
* Test and recharge agent cylinders as necessary, ensuring that they are properly pressurized and filled with the appropriate extinguishing agent
* Identify and troubleshoot issues with fire suppression systems, such as leaks, pressure problems, or malfunctioning components, and implement corrective actions as per NFPA requirements.
* Repair and replace fire suppression system components as needed, ensuring compliance with NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications.
* Coordinate with clients to schedule service visits and communicate recommendations for system improvements or upgrades based on NFPA requirements.
* Inspect and maintain gas cylinders, including hydrostatic testing, refilling, and reinstallation, following NFPA standards and manufacturer specifications.
* Respond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions to restore system functionality.
* Document all service activities accurately and thoroughly, including inspection reports, work orders, and parts usage, and customer notes, using the Service Trade operations platform.
* Work closely with Deficiency Sellers to provide detailed inspection reports, material needs, and other job- related notes, to prepare and deliver repair estimates in a timely manner
* Interact professionally with clients to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address any concerns or questions, and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements
* Work closely with Service Coordinator(s) to optimize work orders, material requisitions, and job scheduling, focusing on efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
