Primary Role
The Fire Alarm Technician II is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial environments. Responsibilities

* Strong understanding of fire alarm codes, standards, and best practices.
* Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
* Willingness to travel within the state of SC.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders or lifts.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with blueprint reading and system layout.
* Familiarity with voltage drop and battery load calculations.
* Ability to manage materials and coordinate with project teams.

The purpose of the Fire Alarm Technician position is to install, troubleshoot, service and repair fire alarm and security systems, and other fire and life safety products with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Duties
* Knowledge of different manufactures clean agent and high-pressure suppression systems.
* Appropriate use of required tools and test equipment such as multi-meter, megger, laptop to program, lifts, etc. to repair or replace fire alarm and suppression system components.
* Comprehensive working knowledge of fire alarm codes and standards.
* Programing and software knowledge with a variety of fire alarm systems that is used when removing or replacing components.
* Troubleshoot to determine fault or faults to include ground faults with fire alarm systems.
* Repair or replace damaged fire alarm components such as FACP, power supply, alarm-initiating devices, etc.
* Safely follow and perform procedures to handle, remove and replace explosive actuators such as squibs and gas cartridge actuators.
* Communicate with internal and external customers as well as offsite monitoring companies in a professional manner.
* Required to be punctual to required work locations and complete scheduled projects in timely manner.
* Use Field Service Lightning to track work orders, materials needed, time on job, etc.
* Complete documentation on work orders.
* Understand and follow SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly Toolbox talks.Employee must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.
* Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained as required by company policies.
* Alarm Technicians will be placed in on-call status as required by location to handle emergency service requests.
* Periodically attend seminars or similar education/training sessions to stay abreast of latest technology, codes, and standards changes.

Position Summary:
Maintain regulatory compliance/documentation for all Fire/Life Safety in accordance with all federal and state regulations and the National Fire Protection Association codes for all properties located across the United States.
I. Position Responsibilities: Essential
* Oversees 3rd party inspection of all property locations and building structures for fire hazards and conformance with applicable fire and life safety codes.
* Interprets various laws, ordinances, and regulations to comply with safety regulations and fire prevention codes in accordance with national, state and county standards.
* Communicates with Authorities having Jurisdiction regarding violations or potential safety improvements and assists with resolution or implementation.
* Advises and instructs General Managers and Regional Operations Manager in fire prevention methods in the removal of fire hazards, and makes recommendations for reducing potential hazards.
* Reports violations of fire safety regulations and establishes safety standards to appropriate leadership and prepares written notices for follow-up; analyzes trends and prepares summaries for leadership for improved safety outcomes.
* Receives, responds to and investigates common complaints regarding fire code violation; provides direction to comply.
* Maintains current knowledge of trends and developments in the fire/life safety field for application to functional areas of responsibility.
* Partners with and supervises Fire and Life Safety Coordinator to carry out major projects and ensures parties are kept informed on project status.
* Manages and maintains vendor relationships to ensure project bids are appropriate for scopes of work required and timely completed.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
II. Essential Skills/Credentials/Experience/Education
* High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three years’ experience in fire prevention and suppression functions, two of which shall be at the Fire Inspector Technician level or equivalent.
* Certified Fire Inspector is strongly preferred but not required.
