Job Summary
The Fire Service Manager is responsible for the management and development of operations, sales, and administration within a company’s Service/Inspection Department. Where span of control is a consideration; the Service Manager will be assigned to a specific segment of a Fire Service Department, i.e. Portables, Sprinkler, Inspections, Fire Alarm, etc. Other responsibilities include providing strategic guidance, supervision, training, and leadership to a diverse workforce, specifically the Fire Technician/Inspector position.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Directly manages a team of employees.
* Responsible for hiring, coaching, developing, and managing performance for direct reports.
* Collaborates with the Sales Department on the development/delivery of proposals.
* Acts as the point of contact between assigned team and branch leadership.
Essential Job Functions
* Assume full Profit and Loss accountability for the Service/Inspection department.
* Ensure effective planning and achievement of project long-term and short-term goals.
* Overall responsibility to ensure maximum level of engagement and performance of service personnel in accordance with applicable laws and the company’s values.
* Ensure that adherence to established service departments, budget parameters, appropriate financial reports and regulatory requirements are met.
* Ensure development and maintenance of strong working relationships and close collaboration with Management, Customers, and other service and sales personnel for smooth implementation of activities.
* Build and develop partnerships that will grow the business within the industry marketplace.
* Execution management and oversight of the branches KPI results to include all aspects of coaching, managing, and leading team members.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field, preferred.
* Active Class B Portable Fire Extinguisher License.
* Professional certification in Fire Protection is required. (E.G. State License, NICET, CSA, NAFED, ICC)
* 3 or more years of experience in the B2B Services industry.
* 1 or more years of supervisory or management experience.
* Strong marketing and sales strategy development experience.
* Working knowledge of the fire protection industry.
* Ability to set and meet aggressive commitments to achieve business objectives.
* Ability to focus and prioritize in a fast-paced business environment.
* Ability to manage and lead staff to excellent performance.
* Ability to build strategic partnerships and possess a strong and positive history of growth within a market.
* Maintain a valid driver's license, auto insurance, and ability to pass a drug and background check.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Perform functionality and sound tests prior to a building’s tenant arrivals.
* Review blueprints/drawings to determine device locations and placement.
* Ensure materials and equipment match scope of work and job sold.
* Install equipment according to national electrical, fire alarm and life safety codes and installation standards
* Meet with building engineers, property management and/or site contacts upon arrival to facility to notify of work status and again upon conclusion of workday.
* Verify integrity of all work prior to tying-in to building’s fire alarm system. This may include functionality testing of installed devices, metering circuits and devices for shorts, grounds and faults.
* Repair as needed to ensure a fully compliant system operation.
* Conduct sound tests to ensure decibel level of installed notification appliances meet or exceed NFPA requirements.
* Provide documentation according to NFPA standards upon completion of work with additional sign-off upon successful testing & certification.
* Maintain accurate records of work performed. Turn-in “as-built” drawings and required copies of NFPA forms to Installation Coordinator upon completion of job.
* If assigned a company vehicle, maintain an accurate inventory of truck stock, ensure vehicle is regularly serviced and immediately report any problems with vehicle
* Provide a weekly/daily job status for review with manager
* Maintain assigned tools and equipment and report any defects or problems immediately upon discovery.
* Utilize test equipment, which includes, but is not limited to digital multi- meters, battery analyzers, sound level meters and communication equipment.
* Perform other duties assigned by management.
Education/Qualification:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* A minimum of 3 years of Fire Alarm industry experience is required.
* Electrical experience is a must.
* NICET certification in Fire Alarm Technology a plus.
* Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and be customer service oriented.
* Should have experience in managing teams or groups of individuals on projects.
* Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently.
* Must have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to/from the office or job site.
* Must be flexible with scheduling requirements that occasionally will require evening, weekend and/or out-of-town assignments.

As a Security Systems & Fire/Life Safety Estimating Coordinator, you will:
* Prepare cost estimates and proposals, based on information provided by field technical personnel, for the correction of impairments and deficiencies identified during ITM services on Commercial/Industrial Security Systems (Access Control, CCTV) and Fire Protection Equipment (Fire Alarm/Commercial Security Systems, Fire Extinguishing equipment, and other Fire Systems).
* Understand the end product/result and work to determine the correct solution that best meets the customer’s needs, while maintaining code compliance and equipment operability.
* Prepare proposals with supporting cost estimates.
* Send proposals to the customer, client services manager and appropriate field personnel based on local workflow and/or code requirements.
* Track and follow up on customer correspondence to secure approval for needed repair work.
* Coordinate with Supervisor and other team members to identify source and cost of repair parts and/or services when necessary.
* Prepare turnover documentation for transmittal to local service coordinators in the appropriate branch office to ensure proper completion of work.
* Track and maintain assigned proposals and purchase orders.
* Report unresponsive customers or delayed approvals to Field Quote Center Supervisor for escalation to local service team as needed.
* Provide feedback on methods and means that would help streamline the process and improve throughputs for all parties.

Basic Qualifications:
* High school diploma or state-recognized GED
* 3 - 5 years experience in estimating.
* 4+ years of experience with Fire/Life Safety or Commercial Security Systems
