Qualifications
* 5+ years progressive experience in security management, loss prevention, law enforcement or related field, with at least 2 years supervisory experience.

* Current Florida Class D Security License required; Class G preferred or ability to obtain before start.
* Deep knowledge of physical security systems, CCTV, and access control technologies.
* Proven investigative skills and experience managing law enforcement coordination.
* Strong emergency management credentials; CPR/AED certification preferred; OSHA and emergency preparedness experience.

General Purpose
Under general supervision, supervise and coordinate inspection activities related to the enforcement of the fire code and designated municipal codes, laws, and ordinances to ensure life safety throughout the city.
Typical Duties
Supervise staff and perform fire prevention inspection duties. Involves: Inspecting interiors and exteriors of commercial, industrial, and other buildings to detect fire hazards, efficiency of fire protective equipment, and adequacy of fire escapes and exits. Inform and discuss the conditions of building storage and equipment with the owner or manager, and make recommendations regarding unsafe conditions. Issue summons for uncorrected fire hazards from previous inspections and for code violations. Inspect gasoline distributors, delivery trucks, and issue permits in compliance with fire safety regulations. Conduct fire prevention programs at public buildings and commercial businesses for employees and school fire drills.
Issue red tags, stop work orders, correction notices, or citations as required when construction does not meet technical or municipal codes, ordinances, or plans. Involves: Refer citations not signed by defendants to the police department for service. Confer with contractors and issue verbal and written corrections as needed. Investigate work, as required, and ensure licensed contractors are performing the construction/installation of fire protection systems with a city-issued permit and in compliance with all regulations. Sign permits if all construction is in compliance. Maintain applicable database, records, and files. Research prior inspections for approval/disapproval. Attend training and meetings.
Oversee and schedule the unit’s workload. Involves: Ensuring on-site inspections of new and remodeled sites and structures. Reviewing plans and specifications, materials, layouts, and equipment. Ensuring the correct interpretation of code requirements is issued to project superintendents, contractors, architects, engineers, homeowners, and the public. Oversight of uniform conformance to fire and applicable building codes, standards, and regulations, proper investigation and response to complaints regarding illegal construction, safety, or hazardous conditions. Testify in court and before City boards and Commissions, as required.
Supervise and assist assigned personnel. Involves: Schedule, assign, guide, and check work. Prioritize and coordinate unit activities. Appraises employee performance. Provide staff training and development. Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work standards. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. ELIGIBILITY FOR VACATION LEAVE
All regular employees who are regularly scheduled to work on an average, a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week, who have held a position in the City Service for a period of six months from date of employment, shall be eligible for vacation allowance as hereinafter set forth. Part-time employees shall accrue vacation leave at a pro-rated amount of full-time entitlement based on the number of hours that they are scheduled to work. Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements shall accrue vacation as provided in the applicable agreement.
For 0 - 5 Years Of Service (12 Days)
Regular employees in the City Service shall accrue vacation credit at the following rates per pay period, calculated from the date of employment of each employee:
40 hour per week employees - 3.70 hours per biweekly pay period
For >5 to 15 years of service (17 days):
40 hour per week employees - 5.24 hours per biweekly pay period
For >15 or more years of service (20 days):
40 hour per week employees - 6.16 hours per biweekly pay period
SICK LEAVE WITH PAY
Employees shall be entitled to accrue sick leave with pay in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Service Commission.
ACCIDENT WITH PAY LEAVE
The Amended Section 4.4 of the Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption and shall apply to occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring on and after date of adoption. Occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring before such date will be governed by the Ordinance in effect at the time of the date of injury or disease.
PREGNANCY LEAVE
* Pregnancy shall be treated the same as any other temporary physical disability.
* An employee on pregnancy leave shall use accumulated and unused regular sick leave time and then (unless granted use of special sick leave) shall be on leave without pay, unless the employee chooses to use any accumulated and unused annual leave.
* An employee going on pregnancy leave shall give written notice to her department head with appropriate medical verification. Before returning to work from pregnancy leave, the individual will provide appropriate medical documentation releasing the employee to return to work, as is required for any individual who has been on leave for a temporary physical disability.

The City of De Pere is seeking an Assistant Fire Chief to protect life and property by implementing, directing, delegating, supervising, and evaluating the performance of firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties through preparation, maintenance, and response of fire department personnel, equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
About Our Department
The typical work schedule is Monday - Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. plus additional hours for emergencies and meetings. However, the City of De Pere recognizes the importance of its employees having a proper work-life balance and supports alternative work arrangements which include alternative work schedules, flexible scheduling, and remote work to help meet your lifestyle needs. In addition, new employees receive three weeks of vacation and four floating holidays per year beginning on the first day of work (prorated the first year).
Compensation: The anticipated starting salary is $103,854 - $124,612, depending on qualifications, plus an excellent benefits package. The full salary range for this position is $103,854 - $148,366. The City of De Pere rewards employees for exceptional work performance with a pay for performance incentive program. Employees may be awarded a salary increase, bonus, or paid time off for exceptional work performance. Employees will be automatically enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS), a pension plan to help provide for financial security during retirement, which consists of employer and employee required contributions.

* Identify corrective actions necessary to bring properties into compliance with applicable fire codes, laws, regulations, and standards. Conduct fire code compliance follow-ups to ensure that corrective actions have been taken in cases where violations were found. Review reports of fire inspections, fire code violations, and corrective recommendations offered.
* Review plans for new or remodeled buildings to ensure the structures meet with appropriate laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.

Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Fire Science or related field.

Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing inspections, investigations, and educational work in fire prevention and arson investigation as an agent of the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Typical Functions
* Conducts investigations of criminal violations of state law pertaining to suspected arson and other violations related to statutory authority and, based upon the evidence obtained, prepares reports, advises and assists prosecutors in filing charges, and drafts and executes legal documents for use in criminal or administrative investigations to include affidavits, search warrants, orders, and citations and appears as a witness in court.
* Processes fire, explosion and crime scenes; gathers and analyzes information; interviews witnesses; collects materials, substances, documents and other evidence including photographs, ignitable substances, fingerprints, and other items; arranges for scientific testing and analysis as needed.
* Inspects buildings and premises of facilities, such as schools, hospitals, nursing homes, theaters, apartment houses, hotels, and correctional facilities; reviews plans and specifications for construction of new buildings or major alterations to existing buildings to determine compliance with statutes, rules, building and life safety codes, rules and ordinances.
* Inspects storage locations for explosives to enforce state laws governing the manufacture, storage and handling of explosives; inspects locations which store or sell fireworks; enforces the state fireworks laws governing the sale and/or possession of illegal explosives, investigates and enforces laws in regards to licenses for fireworks shooters.
* Investigation and enforcement of the Fire Extinguisher Licensing Act.
* Speaks before a variety of groups, providing information on fire safety and prevention; assists governmental subdivisions throughout the state in instituting or improving fire and life safety programs.
* Attends conferences; prepares and presents classes on fire prevention, fire investigation, code enforcement, and safety to fire and law enforcement personnel.
* Participates in covert investigations and surveillance operations; operates computes and other equipment.

This is the specialist level of this job family where employees are assigned advanced level duties and responsibilities which may include serving as a Field Training Officer agent for probationary agents, organizing and coordinating multiple investigations or inspections within the agency or with other agencies, or participating in the development or presentation of educational programs.
Education And Experience
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of two years experience in fire investigation, and/or fire prevention, which may include service in a federal, state, county, or municipal fire department plus three additional years of qualifying experience as an agent in the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office; or two years of professional experience in conducting criminal investigations for a governmental law enforcement agency as the primary full time job responsibility plus three additional years of qualifying experience as an agent in the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting the completion of 30 semester hours from an accredited college or university including 6 semester hours in fire protection and prevention for each year of the required experience plus three additional years of qualifying experience as an agent in the Oklahoma State Fire Marshal’s Office. Special Requirements
All applicants will be required to successfully complete specialized training in arson detection and investigation, become proficient with building and fire codes and pass required written and performance exams in addition to being CLEET certified, prior to the end of their one year probationary period. CLEET certification must be maintained by all agents in the fire marshal job series. Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is searching for a Deputy Fire Marshal who will play a key role in implementing the site-wide Fire Protection Program. The Deputy Fire Marshal, under the direction of the Fire Marshal, will work with the Fire Protection Office to oversee implementing, assessing, and continuously improving the fire protection program. The Deputy Fire Marshal has significant responsibilities and site wide impact at all levels from the individual work activity to institutional policy related to fire protection. Among other Fire Marshal's duties, the Deputy Fire Marshal will also provide support in the area of Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) duties for Fire Protection at LANL including construction acceptance, plans review, and code interpretation. The LANL Fire Marshal is assigned AHJ responsibilities from the Department of Energy, and LANL Site Office. As such, this position must maintain a highly advanced understanding and application of fire protection principles.
The Deputy Fire Marshal will serve as an integral member of the Fire Protection Office, working closely with its staff and leadership. The Fire Protection Office (ES-FP) is the Laboratory's central fire protection engineering and program support entity responsible for providing institutional technical direction and support for the Laboratory's nuclear and non-nuclear facilities and programs. The primary functional areas of the Office are: fire protection engineering, fire prevention inspections, fire alarm site-wide operations, and fire department program management.
Additionally, the Deputy Fire Marshal acts as a fire code official and reviews and approves design drawings and acceptance test plans and provides guidance by witness acceptance testing for fire protection systems. The Deputy Fire Marshal must maintain a highly advanced understanding and application of fire protection principles and maintain a Professional Engineer license in Fire Protection. This position must also maintain open lines of communication with facility and operational management, DOE headquarters, Site Office, industry peers and the County of Los Alamos.
The selected candidate will contribute by defining and articulating strategic vision, goals, and developing fire protection management related policy, services and functions that include analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation of facility safety and fire protection activities. The Department also provides emergency medical and ambulance service area-wide in an efficient and cost effective manner. The Fire Captain performs as an individual and team member in the delivery of fire protection services through fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical services, and related activities. The Fire Captain must perform these duties in a manner that reflects positively on the City and the Department.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED). Must live within 12 road miles of fire station and maintain telephone service. Three to five years of fire experience, including two years of supervisory experience or documented increasing level of responsibility. BASIC FUNCTION
To conduct on-site fire inspections of complex residential and commercial buildings for compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and standards. To promote fire and life safety through compliance of County and state fire prevention codes and regulations.
STATEMENT OF ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
1. Conducts annual on-site fire inspections of complex residential and commercial buildings compliance with applicable codes, ordinances and standards; checks occupancy permit for approved use of the premises; checks for compatible uses in multiple tenant buildings; checks for approved fire extinguishers, obvious electrical hazards, and proper housekeeping; checks the proper use of stored gases and the storage of other flammable materials.
2. Investigates complaints of alleged fire code violations; identifies violations and recommends solutions; provides information on county codes, standards, regulations and intra-county processes as necessary.
3. Gives written and verbal warnings of code violations; sends out corrective notices, notice and order and order to cease; confirms required compliance as necessary; prepares affidavits; secures and serves temporary restraining orders; secures law enforcement assistance as necessary.
4. Conducts special on-site inspections of such things as but not limited to propane and fuel tanks and short-term place(s) of assembly applications for permit approval.
5. Researches fire codes and National Fire Protection Association literature for fire protection requirements and to determine acceptable alternatives; communicates findings as appropriate.
6. Prepares and mails occupancy permit renewals when fire code violations are remedied.
7. Maintains necessary written and electronic records and prepares required complex reports and briefings; presents reports and evidence at Hearing Examiner's proceedings, Appeals Board and court trials.
8. Analyzes and complies data to determine common violations in order to develop public education programs and materials to promote voluntary compliance of required codes and regulations.
9. Participates in joint investigations with other agencies such as fire district officials, fire departments, other county departments, and state agencies such as state electrical inspectors.
10. Identifies and makes recommendations for modifications to office policies, regulations, and fire codes.
11. Maintains daily written or electronic inspection records and drafts complex detailed reports identifying corrective action.
12. Performs ATC-20 and ATC-45 Rapid Assessments of structures to ensure safe occupation of potentially damaged structures. As necessary under the authority of the Building Official, order evacuation of unsafe structures and post appropriate notifications.
13. Performs and maintain functional ability to utilize electronic devices and processes as well as radio communication devices.
14. As a direct representative of Snohomish County government, exercises exceptional customer service skills during all interactions with the public, builders, stakeholders, other agencies, and property owners.
15. During inspections monitor buildings and building sites for conformance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental protection federal, state, and local codes and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
