POSITION INFORMATION
This recruitment is being held to establish a Promotional Eligible List to fill vacancies for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
GENERAL DUTIES
Receive cases at a public counter or through the mail; check for correctness and completeness of instructions and basic compliance with the Code of Civil Procedure and other statutes and for the proper deposit of fees; explain laws and procedures to persons served. Open cases by entering information into a custom automated system from source documents or instructions; route cases to the field when appropriate for service. Perform the complete cycle of case processing for simple (single) and complex (writ) civil cases such as real estate, automobile and other property seizures, sales and garnishments; maintain detailed financial records of all case collections and payouts; disburse funds to debtors, creditors and other attorney/litigants. Some positions in this class may assist supervision in preparing and maintaining daily and monthly accounting records and processes.

Physical Requirements
Must have vision sufficient to read standard test, read a computer monitor and to drive; speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandable in person and over the telephone; independent body mobility to stand, sit, walk, stoop and bend to access standard office environment; manual dexterity to use hands, arms and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard, write and use a telephone.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Will be required to interact with the public; work with community members from varying levels of organizational hierarchy; and work in an office environment in a County facility.

The Sheriff’s Human Resources will screen all application material to identify qualified candidates. After screening, the qualified candidates will be referred to the next step in the recruitment process.
