The Carol Stream Fire District is accepting resumes from individuals who wish to apply for a full-time fire inspector position. The district seeks an individual with a high level of professionalism and a desire to protect the public from the life-threatening effects of fire and other emergent conditions.
Responsibilities
• Conduct life safety inspections and all needed re-inspections of all existing occupancies within the fire district
• Conduct inspections in new construction for life safety features and fire protection systems
• Participate in a collaborative manner with Village and County building officials
• Participate in site plan review and pre-construction meetings with Village and County officials
• Perform plan reviews on construction documents pertaining to life safety and fire protection
Required Credentials and Experience
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Illinois OSFM Fire Inspector I or the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
• Illinois OSFM Fire Inspector II or the ability to obtain within 12 months of employment
• Completion of Plans Examiner course or the ability to complete within 12 months of employment
• The ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
• A valid State of Illinois driver’s license
Wage and Benefits
• Starting Salary $76,000.00 – $78,000.00, depending on qualifications and experience
• 40-hour work week: 8 hours/day, Monday through Friday (occasional other hours as needed)
