Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Technician to install, inspect, test, troubleshoot, and maintain commercial and residential fire alarm systems. The roles primary purpose is to ensure systems operate reliably and meet all applicable codes and standards (including NFPA 72), respond to service calls, perform repairs, and provide clear documentation and customer communication. NICET certification and hands-on repair experience with fire alarm systems are highly desired.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, program, and commission fire alarm panels, detectors, notification devices, and related system components according to project plans and manufacturer specifications.
* Perform routine inspections, acceptance testing, and preventive maintenance in accordance with NFPA 72 and local code requirements; document findings and corrective actions.
* Diagnose and repair faults in fire alarm systems, including wiring, devices, modules, and communication paths; replace components as needed and verify system functionality.
* Respond promptly to service calls and emergency repairs, prioritize tasks effectively, and maintain communication with dispatch and customers about status and resolution.
* Maintain accurate service records, test reports, and system documentation using company software; complete pricing and work orders as required.
* Ensure compliance with safety procedures and company policies on job sites; operate tools and equipment safely and maintain inventory of parts and materials.
* Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and building owners to coordinate installations, system upgrades, and inspections.
* Provide technical support and training to customers on system operation, basic troubleshooting, and emergency procedures.
Qualifications
* NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems (preferred) NICET Level II or higher strongly preferred; willingness to pursue certification if not already certified.
* 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, testing, and repairing commercial and/or residential fire alarm systems.
* Strong troubleshooting skills and practical repair experience with panels, detectors, notification devices, and notification appliance circuits.
