General Summary:
The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for installing Fire Alarm devices, be the point of contact for service of the devices, and work with customers on the integration of other related building systems.
Preferred Job Skills:
* Electrical background and knowledge of Electronic Equipment.
* Low voltage background to include relays, loops, and inputs/outputs.
* Knowledge of Fire Alarm Systems and test equipment.
* Diagnose and repair systems at the customers location in an efficient and timely manner
* Strong Communication Skills
* PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Command Prompt and the capacity to learn manufacturer specific software.
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to read schematics and possess an understanding of relay logic.
* Ability to travel to project locations
* Edwards Life Safety Equipment knowledge preferred.
* Strong Customer Service Skills with a Positive Attitude
* Experience in reading blueprints and operational materials.

Responsibilities:
* Diagnoses and repairs physical security systems at the customer location in an efficient and timely manner with the objective of restoring systems to full functionality.
* Performs preventative maintenance as required by service and maintenance contract.
* Troubleshoots issues remotely utilizing provided software and an internet connection.
* Travels to customer locations through Florida and Georgia on a continuous day to day basis.
* Works independently to research and resolve issues with equipment.
* Performs special projects and other duties assigned.
* Assists with other technical support issues, as needed.
Position Requirements:
* License: Valid state driver's license as required by job conditions or by the company.

Working Conditions:
* Job requires working in various weather elements; heat, cold, rain, or snow, depending on job location and time of year.

* Work from all types of ladders and be able to transport/relocate ladders unassisted.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities:

* Run low voltage cabling in commercial buildings, including drilling concrete walls and limited conduit bending work.
* Complete all wiring, connections/terminations, and equipment installations ensuring that Access Control and Intrusion systems are complete with total customer satisfaction and contractual requirements.
* Install, repair, or upgrade fire alarm systems and program control panels for fire alarm systems with the guidance of building plans and electrical layouts.
* Mount sensors at appropriate locations, performing all necessary tasks, such as drilling holes for cabling and accessing locations such as crawlspaces or attics.

Bangor Fire Medics work an attractive daytime schedule of four (4) 10-hour shifts per week (Monday–Friday) and receive a highly competitive wage package: Starting pay: $27.49 – $32.54/hour (DOE) plus an additional $2.00/hour ambulance stipend, plus an educational incentive of $5,000 for Paramedic certification.
Retirement options include Maine Public Employees Retirement System plan 3C (2/3 of average final compensation after 25 years with no age minimum), or ICMA-RC 401(a). Lateral transfer pay and vacation accumulation available for candidates with current career EMS service up to 6 years of experience.
The City pays up to 80% of health insurance costs with several health insurance options including low-deductible plans and a plan with a generous Health Savings Account (H.S.A) match. Affordable coverage for dental, vision, and life insurance plans are also available.
Bangor Fire Department employees enjoy time off starting at 3 weeks of vacation annually, 180 hours of sick leave per year, and 13 recognized holidays for the purposes of holiday benefit pay.
