Job Summary
Inspectors are responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, fire pumps, and backflows with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Duties
* Inspect, test, and maintain fire protection systems in accordance with NFPA codes with working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices and critical components.
* Record and report deficiencies of fire protection systems to SFS and Customers.
* Communicate with internal and external customers as well as offsite monitoring companies in a professional manner.
* Proper use and operation of tools required to complete the inspection (heat and smoke detector kit, backflow kit, pump equipment)
* Plan, coordinate, and complete inspections as scheduled in a timely manner.
* Required to be in an on-call status as required by location to handle emergency service and inspection requests
* Ensure company provided vehicle is clean and well maintained as required by company policies.
* Ensure that all assigned tools are safeguarded and maintained.
* Understand and follow SFS’s Safety program, SDS book, Hazardous communication program, policies and procedures. Participate in weekly Toolbox talks. Inspectors must know where all related safety documentation is at all times on each project.
* Attend seminars from time to time to stay abreast of changing technology, installation and testing approaches.
* Train inspector trainees in all applicable aspects of fire protection.
* Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Training, Certifications
* HS Diploma or equivalent, required.
* NICET and/or state required certification required based on location, preferred.
Experience, Knowledge, Skill Requirements
* 3-5 years’ experience inspecting fire protection systems required. 5+ years’ experience preferred.
* Must be able to work alone and as part of a team. Basic math skills, mechanical aptitude, problem solving skills, customer service skills, decision making skills, ability to multitask, ability to meet project schedules, ability to plan and organize, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to train other is required.
Communication Skills
* Must have the ability to effectively read, write and communicate in English with employees and customers.
Systems And Software Skills
* Ability to operate a computer, tablet and read electronic blueprints required. Experience with SalesForce and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Other Qualifications
* Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record required.
* Must be able to comply with SFS’s Drug and Alcohol policy and Background screening requirements, which may also include customer specific requirements based on contractual agreement

Licenses and Certifications: Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent from another state by date of hire. General Purpose

Typical Duties
Supervise staff and perform fire prevention inspection duties. Involves: Inspecting interiors and exteriors of commercial, industrial, and other buildings to detect fire hazards, efficiency of fire protective equipment, and adequacy of fire escapes and exits. Inform and discuss the conditions of building storage and equipment with the owner or manager, and make recommendations regarding unsafe conditions. Issue summons for uncorrected fire hazards from previous inspections and for code violations. Inspect gasoline distributors, delivery trucks, and issue permits in compliance with fire safety regulations. Conduct fire prevention programs at public buildings and commercial businesses for employees and school fire drills.
Issue red tags, stop work orders, correction notices, or citations as required when construction does not meet technical or municipal codes, ordinances, or plans. Involves: Refer citations not signed by defendants to the police department for service. Confer with contractors and issue verbal and written corrections as needed. Investigate work, as required, and ensure licensed contractors are performing the construction/installation of fire protection systems with a city-issued permit and in compliance with all regulations. Sign permits if all construction is in compliance. Maintain applicable database, records, and files. Research prior inspections for approval/disapproval. Attend training and meetings.
Oversee and schedule the unit’s workload. Involves: Ensuring on-site inspections of new and remodeled sites and structures. Reviewing plans and specifications, materials, layouts, and equipment. Ensuring the correct interpretation of code requirements is issued to project superintendents, contractors, architects, engineers, homeowners, and the public. Oversight of uniform conformance to fire and applicable building codes, standards, and regulations, proper investigation and response to complaints regarding illegal construction, safety, or hazardous conditions. Testify in court and before City boards and Commissions, as required.
Supervise and assist assigned personnel. Involves: Schedule, assign, guide, and check work. Prioritize and coordinate unit activities. Appraises employee performance. Provide staff training and development. Enforce personnel rules, regulations, and work standards. Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony. ELIGIBILITY FOR VACATION LEAVE
All regular employees who are regularly scheduled to work on an average, a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week, who have held a position in the City Service for a period of six months from date of employment, shall be eligible for vacation allowance as hereinafter set forth. Part-time employees shall accrue vacation leave at a pro-rated amount of full-time entitlement based on the number of hours that they are scheduled to work. Employees covered by collective bargaining agreements shall accrue vacation as provided in the applicable agreement.
For 0 - 5 Years Of Service (12 Days)
Regular employees in the City Service shall accrue vacation credit at the following rates per pay period, calculated from the date of employment of each employee:
40 hour per week employees - 3.70 hours per biweekly pay period
For >5 to 15 years of service (17 days):
40 hour per week employees - 5.24 hours per biweekly pay period
For >15 or more years of service (20 days):
40 hour per week employees - 6.16 hours per biweekly pay period
SICK LEAVE WITH PAY
Employees shall be entitled to accrue sick leave with pay in accordance with the Rules of the Civil Service Commission.
ACCIDENT WITH PAY LEAVE
The Amended Section 4.4 of the Ordinance shall become effective upon adoption and shall apply to occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring on and after date of adoption. Occupational injuries and occupational diseases occurring before such date will be governed by the Ordinance in effect at the time of the date of injury or disease.
PREGNANCY LEAVE
* Pregnancy shall be treated the same as any other temporary physical disability.
* An employee on pregnancy leave shall use accumulated and unused regular sick leave time and then (unless granted use of special sick leave) shall be on leave without pay, unless the employee chooses to use any accumulated and unused annual leave.

Job Summary
The Integrated Fire and Security Solutions Fort Myers, FL branch is seeking a skilled Access Control Technician to join our team! This role involves the service of Access Control and security systems while ensuring compliance with industry codes and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in low-voltage Access Control systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
* Service, program, and troubleshoot access control systems, including controllers, readers, door hardware, power supplies, and low‑voltage wiring.
* Read and update system drawings, wiring diagrams, and as‑built documentation.
* Configure system software, user permissions, schedules, and integrations with video or intrusion systems.
* Verify materials, equipment, and device placement for accuracy before installation.
* Identify scope gaps or field changes and communicate them to leadership.
* Ensure quality and code compliance, including NEC and applicable NFPA standards.
* Perform system testing, device validation, and troubleshooting to ensure full functionality.
* Coordinate with internal teams, GC, subcontractors, and clients for smooth project execution.
* Stay current on emerging access control technologies and industry best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
* 3–4 years of experience in low‑voltage or electronic security service/installation, with hands‑on access control experience.
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Working knowledge of access control equipment and door hardware.
* Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
* Strong troubleshooting, organization, and time‑management skills.
* Proficiency with laptops, mobile tools, and system programming software.
* Ability to obtain required Florida low‑voltage/security certifications (FASA/BASA if applicable).
* Understanding of NEC requirements and general low‑voltage standards.
* Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
Preferred Qualifications
* Technical school certification or associate degree in electronics, IT, or related field.
* Manufacturer certifications (LenelS2, AMAG, Software House, Brivo, etc.).
* Experience integrating access control with video, intrusion, or networked security systems.
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Key Responsibilities:

* In-depth knowledge of NFPA standards, especially NFPA 70 and 72
* Experience reading blueprints and site maps
* Comfortable working at heights of 20-60 feet using lifts
* Ability to work in cramped spaces and operate BOOM or scissor lifts
* Proficiency with smartphones, computers, email, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office
* Possession of basic PPE and reliable transportation during the initial training period
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in the last 3 years)
* Availability for extensive travel (2-6 weeks at a time) and flexible shifts including nights and on-call work
