Control Systems Inc is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our growing life safety team. This role focuses on inspection, testing, troubleshooting, programming, and repair of commercial fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
We are looking for technicians with strong fire alarm service experience, preferably those with NICET certification or technicians working toward NICET certification. Candidates must hold or be able to obtain FASA/BASA certification.
This position works directly with customers, contractors, and our internal project team to ensure life safety systems remain compliant, reliable, and fully operational.
Responsibilities
* Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of commercial fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA codes and local regulations
* Respond to scheduled service calls and emergency service requests
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair fire alarm and low-voltage system issues
* Perform programming and system configuration for fire alarm systems when required
* Inspect and service life safety and integrated low-voltage systems
* Research and evaluate multiple solutions to resolve system issues efficiently
* Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, submittals, and product manuals
* Coordinate with general contractors, building engineers, and facility managers
* Provide professional on-site customer support and technical guidance
* Communicate service updates and system status to management
* Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and required company paperwork
* Ensure work complies with NFPA, AHJ, and manufacturer requirements
Qualifications
* FASA/BASA certification required
* NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred (Level I–III) or willingness to pursue NICET certification
* Minimum 3+ years of experience servicing commercial fire alarm or low-voltage systems
* Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
* Ability to program or configure fire alarm systems
* Experience reading construction drawings, schematics, and system documentation
* Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
* Must pass required background and motor vehicle record screening
* Strong communication and customer service skills
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls
* Reliable attendance and strong time management
Physical Requirements
* Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing a ladder, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 60 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
* Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools as required and lifting to 75lbs.

GENERAL PURPOSE
This position provides specialized zoning, housing, commercial, and public nuisance code enforcement for the city to improve commercial and residential neighborhoods. Receives immediate direction from the Ogden Fire Prevention Division.
Essential Job Functions
* Performs regular property inspections, including housing, vacant building, business, and commercial properties for substandard conditions and compliance with ordinance, conditional use, and/or legal nonconforming uses.
* Coordinates inspection activity with other regulatory divisions within the city such as Planning, Business Licensing, Community Development, and Building Services.
* Negotiates and recommends solutions to gain compliance in enforcement disputes.
* Responds to citizen and property owner complaints regarding zoning, public nuisance, housing code compliance, and substandard housing violations.

* The pilot will work 12 days on / 12 days off schedule for the duration of the contract.
* All travel and accommodations are covered by the company. The pilot will receive per diem for meals and incidentals.

Job Summary: A Fire Alarm Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, testing, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and regulations, with an emphasis on repair and maintenance. The Fire Alarm Technician plays a critical role in safeguarding lives and property by conducting thorough and detailed inspections, performing required maintenance & necessary repairs and providing expert advice to valued customers.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct routine inspections and testing of fire alarm components, including control panels, detectors, horns, strobes and annunciators, to verify proper operation
* Prepare detailed reports documenting inspection findings, test results and any related deficiencies or non-compliance issues observed, in accordance with NFPA codes and standards
* Troubleshoot system malfunctions and perform repairs as needed, identifying and resolving issues with wiring, circuitry, devices and software
* Respond promptly to service calls and emergency requests, diagnosing problems and implementing solutions to restore system functionality
* Conduct preventive maintenance activities, such as cleaning, calibration and battery replacement, to prolong the lifespan of fire alarm systems and prevent downtime
* Document all service activities accurately and thoroughly, including inspection reports, work orders, parts usage and customer notes, using the ServiceTrade operations platform
* Work closely with Deficiency Sellers to provide detailed inspection reports, material needs and other job-related notes, to prepare and deliver repair estimates in a timely manner, always ensuring customer satisfaction
* Interact professionally with clients to schedule work, discuss inspection findings, address any concerns or questions and provide recommendations for system upgrades or improvements
* Work closely with Service Coordinator(s) to optimize work orders, material requisitions and job scheduling, focusing on efficiency, productivity and customer satisfaction
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment, always adhering to safety guidelines, protocols and procedures
