Job Title: Fire Suppression Systems Inspector

Job Summary: As a fire suppression systems inspector you will be responsible for the completion of service requests at various locations throughout your given territory. We have positions for professional responsible state-licensed Fire Sprinkler Inspectors. The Fire Alarm & Fire Sprinkler Inspector will be responsible for servicing, inspecting, and testing sprinkler and fire alarm systems to the prescribed standards, identifying code and non-compliance issues to the proposed scope of work and provide quality inspections. The Inspector is also responsible for conducting pre-inspection interviews and providing information surrounding what the inspection will consist of, the duration of the inspection, how billing and repair quotes will take place, and answer any questions accordingly. A desired candidate is reliable, thorough, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
Responsibilities
Serve as primary point of contact and ensure customers receive quality customer service
Conduct fire inspections for existing structures, renovations, and new construction
Ensure customers are service to the highest level of satisfaction through quality service and that the customer’ expectations are satisfied before leaving the job site
Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance of fire/life safety product lines to the applicable standards
Perform troubleshooting, service, and minor repairs as necessary
Identify code and other non-conformance issues and make recommendations on repairs or preventative maintenance
Review inspection report with customer and provide a detailed explanation of inspection results
Complete and produce reports that are legible, accurate, and detailed
Invoice paperwork in a timely manner
Work closely with Inspection Technician Lead to ensure the customer receives the scheduled work promised
Stay current with code requirements and industry changes
Attend and complete all required safety training

Qualifications

Maintains 24 hour response capability to all emergency calls for aircraft, structural, vehicular, medical and other. Protects evidence and performs salvage and overhaul of the fire scene. Will stay proficient in the operations of all vehicles and equipment and perform minor maintenance and corrosion control as scheduled or when needed. Performs good housekeeping duties during assigned shifts, in accordance with written policies and schedules. Performs ground upkeep as required.
Minimum And Additional Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must possess and maintain a current State driver’s license. Must be able to meet the professional qualifications required by the NFPA 1001 for Firefighter I/II; and NFPA 1072 as HAZMAT Awareness/Operations; and Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) within 12 months of employment. The 12-month period starts once the State completes all on-boarding activities/actions (e.g. CAC credentialing, security clearances, etc.) to allow the new employee to register for and obtain their certifications. NOTE: Failure to comply will be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination. Candidates are required to pass an annual medical examination to determine their physical ability to perform the job in accordance with National Fire Protection Standard 1582, Standards on Medical Requirements for Firefighters.
Additional Comments
Employees are required to obtain a United States Air Force Motor Vehicle Operator's card during training. Employees will be required to operate vehicles on runways or taxiways and will be required to successfully complete Flight line Driver's Training annually. Candidates must be able to meet NFPA-1582 physical standards, wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), must have a favorable background check which is necessary to operate on networked computers. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with State Laws. McEntire JNGS Fire Department provides 24/7 coverage and consists of three shifts of 10 personnel, each working 48 hrs on 96 hrs off with an average work of 56 hrs and 212 hrs per 28 day pay cycle. Must be able to work with people of different gender or race. Employees in this classification are considered "Essential Employees" and are subject to be recalled 24 hours a day and must provide contact information. Fire Protection Inspector Role Overview
The Fire Protection Inspector provides specialized inspection and verification services for fire and life-safety systems on Building & Infrastructure projects throughout the Greater New York City Metropolitan Area. This role supports both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs in accordance with 1 RCNY
* 101-06, Chapter 17 of the NYC Building Code, the International Building Code (IBC), and applicable NFPA standards, as required by each project.
The Fire Protection Inspector is responsible for verifying that fire protection systems and fire-resistive construction are installed in strict conformance with approved design documents, shop drawings, specifications, code requirements, and manufacturer instructions. Systems may include, but are not limited to, sprinkler and standpipe systems, fire suppression piping, spray-applied fireproofing, firestopping, fire dampers, and related life-safety components.
This role requires an active on-site presence during installation and testing activities, including witnessing required inspections, hydrostatic tests, acceptance testing, and special inspections. The inspector will coordinate closely with contractors, construction managers, testing laboratories, special inspection agencies, and client representatives to ensure all fire protection work meets regulatory and project-specific requirements.
The Fire Protection Inspector plays a critical role in life-safety compliance, proactively identifying non-conforming conditions, documenting deficiencies, issuing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) where required, and verifying corrective actions and re-inspections. Clear documentation, timely communication, and strict adherence to code requirements are essential to the success of this role.
* Work responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
* Inspection of fire suppression piping, hangers, seismic bracing, and supports
* Inspection of spray-applied fire-resistive materials (SFRM) and intumescent coatings
* Verification of firestopping systems and through-penetration fire assemblies
* Witnessing hydrostatic, flush, and acceptance tests for water-based systems
* Review of approved shop drawings, material submittals, and test reports

* Experience with Microsoft Office, Autodesk Construction Cloud, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Procore, Building Connect and Microsoft Project.
* Strong analytical, critical thinking and mathematical aptitude, with attention to detail.
* Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities under time constraints.
* Flexible to be available as needed to travel to client sites.
* NICET-certified individuals preferred.
* Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
